On 25 November During a Cabinet meeting briefing that Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw declared that the PAN 2.0 project, which will aims to improve taxpayers’ digital experience, had been authorized by the central government.
According to a government press release, the new project, which is valued at Rs 1,435 crore, will allow for the technology-driven transformation for the taxpayer registration services.
It offers several advantages, such as improved quality and speedy service delivery, a single source of truth and data consistency, eco-friendly procedures and cost optimization, security, and infrastructure optimization for increased agility.
According to Vaishnaw, taxpayers will receive a new card with a QR code under PAN 2.0, and the entire upgrade process would be free of charge.
According to the statement, the new project is a “e-Governance project” that aims to improve the digital experience of taxpayers by re-engineering the business processes of taxpayer registration services through technology-driven transformation of PAN/TAN services.
“This will be an upgrade of the current PAN/TAN eco-system, combining PAN validation services with core and non-core PAN/TAN activities.”
