A Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) operating under the Department of Defense Production, it reported an annual turnover of Rs 28,162 crore and a profit of Rs 7,595 crore for the financial year 2023-24.

Recent advancements have come to light concerning Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which has faced a downturn in its stock value in recent times. The government has implemented a noteworthy enhancement for the company.

The Department of Public Enterprises has revealed that the Ministry of Finance has conferred ‘Maharatna’ status upon HAL. This designation elevates HAL to the status of the 14th company in India to be included in this prestigious category. The proposal has already secured the endorsement of the inter-ministerial committee.

Which Companies Hold Maharatna Status?

Several companies have been granted Maharatna status, including HAL, BHEL, BPCL, Coal India, GAIL, HPCL, Indian Oil, NTPC, ONGC, Power Grid, Steel Authority of India Limited, Oil India, and PFC.
